Parasites Among Us

What is a Parasite?

Parasites will affect most people in their lifetime, physical or energetic, but exactly what is a parasite? Etymology, is a favorite pastime, and allows a clearer picture in any situation or experience we intend to define. The word parasite is made up of two words, the prefix para and the suffix site.Parasites Among Us

Para is a very diversely used prefixe in our language. Words range from paranoia, to parachute, to parallel, paragraph and paranormal. Most of the time the prefix refers to something alongside another. For example, para-normal is running alongside normal, yet out of the realm of normal. Para-lyze is an interesting take on this prefix, where the meaning appears to be a reference to a state of life which is outside the realm of standardized living. Paragraph is a group of words belonging together, as separated from other groups of words in the same piece. Site is a place, position, environment, or land in or on which something exists. We have website, worksite, etc. So a good take on the word para-site is an organism or energy living alongside a host, which is the site.

The prefix para seems to be a quiet reminder regarding the interdependency of life. The paranormal could not exist unless we had defined normal. A paragraph exists outside, but in addition to, the context of a larger meaning. Certainly a parasite cannot exist without its host. It is good to note, and to remember, the transactional nature of life itself. Interdependence means we all, at times, rely on that which is outside of us for comparison and survival.

Parasite Causes

In a healthy life, however, one finds a state of give and take which forms a sort of balance. We give something to others, and they give us something in return. When life is in balance the give and take creates an environment supporting a healthy existence. We feed the good bacteria in our gut biomes and in turn, the good bacteria keeps the harmful bacteria in balance to support our health. We support the financial institutions and retail outlets we enjoy by giving them our money and they, in turn, use the money to pay their employees, buy their goods, and survive as a business.

What would happen if you found some luggage to purchase, took it to the counter, paid the clerk, and after doing so, the clerk took the luggage, put it back on the shelf for someone else to purchase, and left you to walk out empty-handed? Would you go back to that store? Would you be satisfied with your experience? Now imagine you loan someone money one day, and the next day they don’t take your calls, never speak to you again, and never repay the money? Would you loan them money a year later if they asked? If you went on a sugar-eating binge where you ate only doughnuts, candy and drank soda for 10 days, what would happen? What would happen to the good bacteria in your gut? What would happen to the bad bacteria? How would you feel? Would you continue eating sugar?

Imbalance

Each of the scenarios above has a common link: imbalance. In the first scenario the store is benefiting but you are not. Delving deeper into this scenario we could almost all say we would never go back to the store. But what if the clerk told you he was sending the luggage to a needy family who could not afford luggage, or in purchasing this luggage for the family you’d be in a pool of 500 people to win $1,000,000.00? Maybe you’d buy another set just to increase your chances? When it comes to the sugar eating binge the truth is you would probably feel pretty polar. You would have sugar highs and lows, but also be increasing your chances of illness significantly. And do you know that you’d be increasing your chances of repeating, and extending the binge due to the chemicals the sugar rush produces in your body?

Each of the above scenarios represents an out of balance transaction. Each scenario contains a potential parasite and host. Feeding a parasite is rewarding its behavior, supporting its cause, and allowing it to live at your expense. The price could be your money, your energy, your life force, or even your life.

Addiction and Parasites

Each of these scenarios is also meant to point out another aspect of parasitism, which is that parasites function best in an environment of addiction, or preexisting imbalance. Many times parasites are even responsible for creating and contributing to the addiction itself. Gambling, drinking, rage, junk food, sex, and of course drugs, all contain the potential for addiction. When participating in these activities the body releases chemicals, which create a state causing the person to desire to feel it again…and again.

Only One Will Win

A parasite’s job is to consume. Sometimes a parasite will regard the host, and allow the host enough energy to survive, knowing they cannot survive on their own. But even in this instance the host will not thrive, for most of its energy will be consumed by the parasite, which, by the way, is not opposed to inviting its friends to the party. Many times, however, the parasite will consume the host to its death and move on to another, infecting as many as possible before its host meets an untimely death.

There is an ant in the Amazon rain forest that commonly contracts a parasite called the zombi ant fungus. This fungus infects the carpenter ants, takes over their brain entirely, and uses them to proliferate. The fungus takes control of the ant’s body, making them appear to be in a sort of drunken state, after which it causes them to bite a particular leaf, most always around the same time of day, only to get stuck in the position of biting the leaf at their death. Days later a stem grows out of their head, producing new spores to infect other ants.

Toxoplasmosis, a microscopic human parasite, is most often spread through contact with cat feces or by eating contaminated food, has been getting a lot of press for its current and ongoing studies. Studies are pointing to the parasite’s ability to alter hormone and brain chemistry, causing its host to be more aggressive, take more risks, and be more impulsive. Still other studies suggest infected women are considered more attractive with a lower BMI, while infected men have higher testosterone levels and are also considered more attractive. Some studies are being pursued, possibly linking this parasite to neurological disorders as well.

Parsitism is Linked to Psychiatric Disorder and Gut Health

Some heath experts are beginning to study and link parasites and SIBO to psychiatric disorders in a strange not yet understood interweaving. SIBO stands for small intestinal bacterial overgrowth.  Having SIBO is not the same as being infected with parasites, but having parasites can lead to a condition such as SIBO. The bacterial overgrowth creates a condition in which psychiatric disorders, Alzheimers, Parkinsons, and autism can thrive. During SIBO the bad bacteria have taken over the gut, while in parasitic infection worms, protozoa, or other equally disturbing organisms, live off of the food and nutrients ingested by the host, infecting their gut, intestines, or organs, including the brain, such as in the case of Toxoplasmosis. At some level, however, it is interesting to note and explore the interrelated aspects of these phenomena.

Putting it All Together

Let’s begin to tie this together and paint the whole picture, inclusive of energetic parasites. In our world we encounter people on a daily basis who leave us drained – emotionally, financially, or even physically. Tales of vampires remind us of those who would live off of our blood, which is our lifeline. People who are energetic parasites come from families who teach their children the world is a place to take or be taken from. This concept stems from the belief there is only so much to go around. These same people are not taught how to exist on self-derived energy, or the proliferation of infinite abundance. And so the cycle of this teaching for them would repeat, and be repeated through generations.

Healing

Once a person gives away so much of their energy, they actually have less energy to heal their own sick body or find a lifeline. Once a person is wounded in some way they are easier to take. Parasitic people and organisms know how to find the perfect  host, or site. They know all about addiction and wounds, and they know how to manipulate their way in through the energy holes, weaknesses and  food supply. So whether you may have internal parasite or external parasite, either one makes you more susceptible to the other. And one must wonder about the parasitic person, whether they were actually born parasitic, taught parasitism, or are being driven to the means by internal or external parasites of their own. Perhaps all of the above.

The Good, The Bad, and the Woo-Woo

There is one more aspect of this I would like to cover, even though some may consider this part a bit on the woo-woo side. As a hypnotherapist and energy worker I have seen, heard, and expelled energies and entities people carry with them which are not their own. These energies are also a form of parasite, using their hosts body and energy to support their continued existence in a realm which they no longer belong. These parasites can cause behavior changes, illnesses, and susceptibility to other parasites, just like the others.People often pick up entities at hospitals or graveyards…places where people are often less energetically stable.

People often easily believe in the parasites they can see and prove with their eyes and a microscope, but critical of those who claim to have an energetic entity attachment. It is true that our eyes can only pick up so much of the spectrum of light energy available to us, so is it so crazy to think something outside the spectrum of our human vision could have an effect on our energy?

The Chicken or the Egg

Let’s presume parasitism is actually one big circle, contributing to illnesses, mental and physical. Which came first, the psychopath, sociopath, narcissist and energy vampire, or the parasitic energy that may have infected them? In this case the question is very important, and the answer is that it doesn’t matter. A parasite is a parasite, is a parasite. Once identified, if you value your life and your energy, you must treat it. If you desire a life where using your own energy to achieve goals and life dreams important to you, then you must find balance.

Take a Step and the Path Will be Clear

As above so below and as within, so without. People can begin treating their inner parasites and watch their outer parasites fall away, or they can treat their outer parasites only to notice they are craving and eating different foods, automatically treating their inner parasites. The approach does not matter. The intention is the driving force.

An energetically compromised person with parasitic occupation will be weak with dis-ease, and may need a boost. This boost could come in the form of,  a doctor, hypnotherapist, herbalist, energy worker or other professional. One inherent danger in healing is dependency on the cure. As a person achieves a level where they can stand on their own, it is important for them to take that extra independent step in their lives to move forward in self-support, to become empowered. They must use their own intuition and inner guidance to find the solution best suited to their individual needs. Be careful of those who offer eternal help, or ask or expect you to be indebted to them. Offer what you can in return for their help.  Once helped, if called, show others the way back to balance as well.

Do not let parasites be the demise of you or someone you love. Your contribution to the world is important and necessary.
