Built on Truth
Truth as a Foundational Guiding Principle
Imagine if the number system that we have created as a world is foundationally incorrect. What would that mean? How would that impact our everyday life? What about our assumptions about a round earth or a flat earth? What about nutritional value and content of food? Imagine that our basis was incorrect. Imagine that many of the ideas and postulates that we have used as foundations for society as a whole are not true at all. What then?
When you build a house on a foundation that is crooked or shaky, the house is crooked and shaky. When you build a house on sand, the house is unstable. The same thing happens when we build our society, our lives, our relationships, or our future. Building on an unstable foundation will lead to unstable structures, or creations that do not stand the test of time.
Truth is the only real, stable foundation. That is, a foundation must be built on truth to be stable and lasting. This analogy between truth and foundation, can help us uncover what truth actually is.
The word truth is used in many different capacities. You will often hear people say that something is “truth” when they have a strong feeling about its integrity and rightness. But when a person refers to something as “true,” that does not necessarily make it true for everyone, nor does it make it true in every circumstance.
Remember when cigarettes were “good” for people? How many times have we, as a society, defined and redefined our food pyramid? These kinds of truths do not stand the test of time. What may be true to one or many today, could very well be a lie tomorrow.
We all want to build wonderful monuments, ideas, and relationships. We all want to be successful in what we build. So how can we be sure that we are building on truth? How can we be sure that our foundational principles are sound enough to hold a thriving and successful structure?
The first thing to note is that YOU are building the structure. I am not building the structure, your mate is not building the structure, no, it is you. This means that the foundational ideas must be truth to you. It doesn’t matter if I think they are true. If you are creating, it is your concepts, your energy, your work, and your time that goes into it. If you are building it, and others are helping, that could be a different story, but more on that later. Everything that you use to create, every foundational block on which you place your structure, must be truth to you. It must resonate with you. You must believe it, and you must believe in it.
This idea allows us to see truth in a whole new way. Truth is not a global measure, set in stone, upheld by the community no matter what. It is simply what you believe and what you believe in. That is all. If you believe in a person, they could be a good addition to your life. If you believe in a product, it may help or be beneficial to you. No matter what it is, if you believe in it and you believe it, then that makes it true to you. And for the sake of your creation, you are the only person whose truth matters. If we all take care to build our foundations on truth, then our creations can be magnificent.
Sometimes creations are built by a group of people, representing the truths of all who come together to create. Sometimes group creations cannot come to fruition because truths of the group are too wide on the spectrum to form a creation. It seems, though, that some of the most magnificent ideas and structures have been built upon the diverse truths of many people. It takes a significant amount of energy to bring creations such as those to life. But when they do come to life, they are beyond comparison.
So perhaps you are in agreement with the theme of this article. Perhaps you want to make sure that you create strong foundations, built upon truth. How do you know when you are building on truth? How can you be sure that the principles you are using are strong and solid? There were plenty of people who realized that cigarettes were not good for them, even when society told them they were. Those people may have had an experience or an intuition that told them their truth was different. They knew that building their health on a foundation of smoking was not right for them. In my experience, and the experience of many others, dairy products are not a strong foundational truth principle that builds health. This is certainly not every person’s truth, but it is mine.
True truth comes from inside of us. The deepest truths are the ones that we hold closest to our hearts. They speak to us through our emotions, through our thoughts, and through our bodies. When we pay attention, and strive for awareness, we cannot help but receive truth. Discomfort in the body means that somewhere, there is an untruth. Discomfort in emotion, or rampant negative thoughts mean the same. If we choose to build on shaky, or powerfully negative truths, our creations will reflect that. We can also build powerfully negative creations with powerfully negative truths. Creation cares not what you build with. It is impersonal.
Your body is a perfect example of a creation that is built on your truths or untruths. Sickness and disease are examples of cells that have been built on a shaky foundation. When our bodies are telling us that the foundation is shaky, it is important to go inside and find out where our untruths lie. The good news is that we can always restructure. We can always return to the foundation and stabilize it.
Sometimes this does mean rebuilding, to a certain extent. But it is important to note that life is actually the process of building and rebuilding. No matter how stable and built upon truth a structure is, it will always eventually fall. Truths will eventually change. It is human nature to enjoy the creation and suffer through the destruction. But actually each event, creation and destruction, are reason for celebration.
There is one truth that will never change, and that is the never-ending presence that is you. We are speaking of the presence that is a present, and in the present. We are speaking of the spark of eternal oneness that lives within us all. At times when things feel shaky, that is our one true indestructible truth. The closer we build to the foundation of the indestructible I AM, the closer we get to building eternal truths.
If you have difficulty recognizing untruths that have been with you in your body or mind for awhile, hypnotherapy is a useful tool to help to uncover them. Once you shed the light on these untruths, they can no longer bring darkness and instability to your foundations.
